I'm Scott Hofert. For more than thirty years I've been building companies and nonprofits, and I've failed my way into most of what I know. Now I help people start, build, and grow the thing they can't stop thinking about.

Every business I've seen, including my own, moves through the same nine stages. Find the spot that sounds like you and start there. If you'd like the big picture first, read My Entrepreneurship Coaching Strategy and “The Why”: THE NINE STAGES.

Phase 1 - I have an idea.
You can see it, but you're not sure where to begin.

Phase 2 - I'm building it.
It's real now, and it's messier than you expected.

Phase 3 - I'm growing it.
It's working, and now you're asking what comes next.

What I'm learning, including the failures. A new thought most weeks.
Just say hello
Tell me what you're building, or what you hope to build.
I've been a founder, a nonprofit builder, a leather maker, and an Airbnb host, owner of commercial real estate and none of it went in a straight line. Somewhere along the way I noticed that the hard part of any venture is rarely the idea. It's what the idea asks of you, which is courage, patience, good people, and a willingness to keep growing when you'd rather stay comfortable.
I spent more than thirty years working with people, and that taught me to say hard things kindly. Three decades of building taught me that my failures were never detours. They were my curriculum.
I'm also a father to two sons, and a lot of what I write is meant for them, too.
I don't only coach this. I live it every day.
